Make a bee-line to RAM’s Wustum Museum! Camp is back, and it is buggier than ever. See what all the buzz is about this summer. Enjoy the student and teacher bug art in the exhibition Creepie Crawlie at RAM’s Wustum. Then, use it as inspiration to create your own art that creeps and crawls. Make insect-inspired art with clay, paint, pastels and recycled materials. Flutter and fly through this camp spinning your web of creativity while making new friends and learning new skills. Bee the social butterfly as you greet Mom and Daddy-long legs for Camp Gallery Night on Friday at 4:00 pm – a celebratory end to the week’s adventure.

Free First Friday In August (10:00 - 10:00)
Visitors can enjoy the Racine Art Museum for FREE the first Friday of every month. Spend a day creating beautiful scarves – a great way to make wearable art! Learn basic dye application techniques, including: resist, salt application and tie-dye. Create two or three wearable art pieces using this painting form that is centuries old. All supplies included in the registration fee.

Meet Me On The Patio: August (17:30 - 20:00)
Join your friends in RAM’s outside Sculpture Garden for the August Meet Me on the Patio, featuring "Fly Box" by Karel Suchy. Enjoy beer sampling, light snacks, a great view of Lake Michigan and DIY art projects. This month, also experience the live music and video montage of Fly Box.
 
Fly Box is a mixed-media, presentation, incorporating original recorded and live music, photography, fishing flies, poetry and textile art. The music is in three movements, based on stages in the life cycle of a water insect. Electronic, acoustic and vocal music portray the nymph, dunn and spinner phases. Poetry and prose related to insects and fly fishing, featuring selections from The Complete Angler, 1663, by Izaak Walton and Charles Cotton, will be sung and spoken. Award-winning nature photographer Zdena Sumerauerova of Prague has contributed her work, which will be shown in video montage with photos of fishing flies by Karel Suchy. Fishing flies, including some by fly-fishing expert Pat Ehler, will be displayed. Textile art, representing insect life stages, has been contributed by Prague artist and historical expert on textiles, Eva Jandikova. The musical presentation is 20-30 minutes in length, and will be repeated throughout the event. Karel Suchy will be available for questions and discussion between musical segments.

Learn a variety of chain making techniques and styles while practicing soldering skills. Create jump rings and linked chains with copper, brass and sterling silver.
