Racine YMCA's Young Leaders Academy (YLA)

This program is designed to strengthen the City of Racine by nurturing its most at risk population, inner-city minority youth. The YMCA and their partners have found that the YLA is very effective at keeping students busy after school with a mix of productive recreational activities and homework supervision.

Girl Scout Programs
Special tours and programs are available for Girl Scout groups. Initiated in 1988, this project serves 100-300 scouts each year.

  • Two Saturdays a year for Girl Scout badge fullfillment: one in December for Brownies and one in February for Juniors.
  • Three day camp in July.
  • Discounts for Girl Scouts on spring break art camp and summer art camp.
  • Tours of RAM and Wustum.

In 1996, Wustum began collaborating with the Girl Scouts of Racine County, Inc. on a project to reach out to troubled teen girls. Working as a team, the two groups inaugurated a series of workshops for girls at the Southern Oaks Girls School, a correctional facility in Union Grove, Wisconsin.
